Throughout the week, countless young people prayed, went to Mass, and attended various gatherings to grow in their Catholic faith.
EWTN attended the event, asking many attendees why they journeyed to Lisbon.
21-year-old Juliana from Sarnia, Canada told journalists that she felt called to attend World Youth Day.
She said she "had to say yes" after previous involvement in the occult and recently returning to the Catholic Church. Juliana added that she felt as if she was in "a spiritual battle."
"I didnât know about World Youth Day at all. It's not something I've ever heard about," Juliana told EWTN.
"I've most recently come back to the church and was involved in the occult. I've felt that I'm in a spiritual battle. So when they invited me to come, I felt that God was calling me and I had to say yes."

Let me tell you guys why I donât like Catholicism
1. Jesus came on earth to save us from the punishment of our sins and to reconcile us with god not to make a religion. The reason I say this is because a true child of god knows itâs not about religious ceremonies and etc itâs about having a relationship with Jesus the lord god and I see that some catholic churchâs make it more âreligiousâ than making it a gathering with the Holy Spirit.
2.Also they like to Hail Mary which directly goes Againts the Bible because god says worship and praise your lord god only and to not make idols before god.
3.When Jesus died he spilt the curtain showing that we donât need âhigh priest and religious leadersâ to talk to god
I also feel like we shouldnât create separation in what we are called to be, children of the lord not âCatholics or Christians â because this may sound confusing but Iâm a CHRIST-TIAN not a Christian âď¸praise be to the lord god Jesus the Father and the Holy Spirit
