While the 777X is not a direct replacement for the 757, its versatility in both passenger and cargo operations makes it a valuable asset for airlines. By leveraging its cargo capacity, airlines can make the 777X work on routes with varying passenger demand, ensuring they maximize revenue opportunities.

It’s clear Boeing’s large aircrafts are competitive and that it’s designs and engineering for larger planes still command respect globally — its position in the global aircraft market would be greatly improved, if the 737 max could be taken out of the negative limelight that creates an impression that something is wrong with the company down deep. The company has got to be aggressive in documenting and reassuring that it has the 737 products safely in hand beyond a shadow of a doubt.!

Let me simplify this tragic explanation.
Ethiopian uses 787, the 787 and 777 share type rating, the 777X is just a 777-300ER with a new engine and bigger wing, which allows the 777 to finally fly at altitudes closer to that of the Dreamliner while carrying a lot more cargo due to(I’m not 100% certain but I’m sure the 777-300ER has a MTOW of like 350,000Kg while the 787-10(so the largest) one only has 250,000Kg.
Since Ethiopian market is on the rise, it makes sense for them to use a higher MTOW aircraft as it just purely lets the carrier carry more cargo on top of the passengers.
Airport elevation is barely part of the discussion, the engines of the A350, B787 are perfectly capable, the 777X engines are nothing out of the ordinary compared to them(apart from higher power, which literally doesn’t matter in elevated airports because you don’t use max power anyway… even at 350,000Kg TOW, on a 4,000m runway you would be derating the GE-90 or GEnx engines, TO1 with flaps 15 is definitely viable.

Still can’t get over the fact that the engine of the 777x has the same diameter of the 737 fuselage 🤯🤯
