I was recording an OBS, and I press stop recording in it would not stop recording. It just said “stopping recording …”

I Eventually had to force, quit OBS and my finder, because the external hard drive was not responding.

My MacBook no longer recognizes the drive I was recording to however, the backup LaCie drive I have still pops up on my MacBook. So I know the MacBook is not the problem

I have tried the following:
- Updated MacBook software
- Tried a different cable for the hard drive
- Tried a different port on my laptop
- Tried a different MacBook (still does not connect.The light just flashes and never goes solid)
- I took it to Best Buy and they were able to pull up the Drive on their Windows machine, but not their Mac. They also said that the hard drive is still formatted for Mac which is strange and they did not understand why. That was all they were able to confirm for me so I tried a windows laptop when I got back home. The drive shows up on the windows laptop however I am unable to access MKV files that were there (which includes my screen recording and the audio track for my mic).
If you have any further advice, I would really appreciate it. This is very discouraging, but I promise I will be back as soon as possible.
