Long-distance travel for a minor child comes up in every divorce or custody case where the parents don't live in the same city. If parents live within driving distance, sometimes they can meet halfway, or sometimes one parent will drive the entire distance one time, and the other parent will drive the full distance on the way back. But when driving is not an option, air travel is the standard transportation method.
2 Main options: 1) One parent flies with the minor child each way on the flights. This means there will be several round trip parents as usually, the non-timesharing parent doesn't want to hang around the city waiting for the child to finish visiting with the other parent, so 2) if the child is of sufficient age, most airlines allow for "unaccompanied minor" travel. This second option is what this short video is about. There is usually a fee (each airline differs) and age limits (again, each airline differs), but most airlines allow a child to fly accompanied by a parent or guardian. This video goes into some of the benefits of the unaccompanied minor option. Thanks for watching!

Must be a little scary for some kids to be on a plane without a parent.
