This is a clip from a 10 minute video i recorded back in September during a very low point in my depression. I had just gotten fired from a job i had dedicated myself to for the past decade. My divorce from a 14 year marriage was finalized and my apartment lease was up. Three major battles that did not work out in my favor and i was spiraling. All my life I’ve been the strong friend. My loved ones never have to worry about me cause i take care of me! But when your whole identity changes and nothing feels familiar or safe anymore it’s hard to recognize when you’re not ok. This was my cry for help to my loved ones letting them know i needed them to physically show up and check on me. Put eyes on me because i couldn’t admit i wasn’t ok. With mental health some people’s are masters of masking their struggle as a way to lesson the burden on others. So many people suffer in silence till it’s too late. I’m not posting this for likes or sympathy but for awareness. I am fortunate to have support to allow me to sort through my struggles. A lot of people aren’t as fortunate, don’t know how to help themselves to navigate difficult seasons; they need to feel seen and heard. Struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts isn’t something to be silent about, to judge yourself for, and be ashamed of. Death is a part of life and is experienced many times before we take our last breaths. Normalize mourning the death of older versions of you on this journey through the human experience. #depression #depressionawareness #mentalhealthawareness #seasonaldepression #suicideprevention #suicideawareness #mentalhealth

My mother used to say that depression is like looking at a tree, outside your window, on a dark, dreary winter day. Everything looks dead and hopeless. But, people don't realize, that the tree is putting down roots, deep into the earth and when spring comes, the tree stands taller, stronger and more beautiful than ever before. Get help my friend. Get counseling! Join a group. There are great videos on YouTube dealing with depression. Go to the library and find books, articles that will help you grow strong. Then once you have grown straight and tall, you will be able to help others who are going through what you went through😍

As a Mother, I just wanna hold you and let you know it's going to be OK. Just keep talking about it because you can be an advocate for what you're going through. Our calling can be hard to step into. Do give up baby gurl.🥰

Please please please. Don’t give up. I understand days may be dark and long and lonely. Please inbox me your number. I will call you. I will check up on you. I will be a big sister. I know about depression first hand. It’s a difficult space to be in. Thank you for always showing up online. But we can talk. I will keep you in prayer. I hope to hear from you soon.
