October 25! Karate Day! For real! As decided in Okinawa, where this martial art was developed!

Karate (using that name), as most of you already know, is a modern martial art. Yes, modern, even though it originated from an ancient martial art, toude.

Thus, many of the most popular traditions of karate are also modern. "Fabricated" .😬😅 But this is not necessarily bad! A good tradition can not be considered as bad just because it is not ancient. I even believe that karate has several fine ~recent~ traditions.

And a very recent tradition is the "Okinawa Challenge" - to perform 100 kata on Karate Day! This is the fifth year since it started being practiced, but thousands of people take part all around the world!

It's an interesting way to honor this martial art, deepen our bond with it and feel part of a larger community, all practicing the 100 kata on the same day. It is even possible to register our participation in this tradition in the website of the Challenge!

I thought I would not participate this time because I'm recovering from a delicate shoulder injury. But I decided to join, making only ten kata, very slowly so as not to hurt my shoulder. Well, it did hurt a little, but I think it was worth it!
