Lovely bit of kit. Quite the improvement from caplock rifled muskets!

My word, that is quite a change up from the old muskets. I can see why they were so important.

Never would I think I'd see a renaissance person using a weapon from the late 1800s

We used Snider-Enfields when I worked at the Halifax Citadel. Heavy rifles, but easy to use.

Honestly thought all of the civil war was fought using front loading muskets! Very informative! Its great to know that the lines were fighting at a higher level than I had previously thought and gives me more appreciation for the men and women that went to war and provided for an amazing goal

The enfields were mostly used by confederates as the standard weapon for the union was the Springfield Rifled Musket. So yeah. Thanks for that.

There is something i really like about black powder firearms especially the conversion ones from muzzle loading to cased amunition. Colt single action navy and army conversions are awesome examples

The Americans didn't normally use breechloading weapons during the Civil War. It was predominantly mussel loading rifles like the Springfield.

It was used by Canadians during the Fenian Raids. Basicly when Ireland wanted indendance in 1866 right after the American Civil War so a bunch of Irish soldiers invaded Canada from the US which would lead to the birth of Canada the following year. They did continue attacks thought Canada up until I think 1901 with an attack on a Canal in Ontario called the Welland Canal

The British Enfields used in the Civil War were muzzle loaders, not breech loaders. And both sides used them, but more the south because they lacked a significant way to make firearms as opposed to the north with its industrial might.

Have one. Only complaint: ammo is high.
