Love from Kerala in South India. Here we prepare almost all our food and eat them in a banana leaf. I really appreciate you trying it out. You should definitely visit our country one day.

In Latam itā€™s also common to cook with banana leaves. In Mexico we have tamales, which are sometimes made in corn leaves and sometimes in banana leaves. In other countries they have other similar dishes, like Venezuelan Hallacas, which are also made on banana leaves

Day 4 of commenting my grilled cheese recipe until Tyler tries to make it

1. Butter it up:
Mix your butter with chili powder and garlic powder. Slather it on the outside of your bread slices like itā€™s SPF 100 and weā€™re going for maximum sizzle.
2. Cheese loading:
Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the inside (think moisturizer-level thickness). Pile on Mozzarella, Habanero Gouda, and Pepper Jack. If itā€™s not over-the-top, youā€™re doing it wrong.
3. Hit it with the sauce:
Drizzle chili oil between those cheese layers, and if youā€™re feelinā€™ fancy, go for a splash of hot honey. This is where sweet-and-heat legends are born.
4. Grill it like a pro:
Heat your pan to medium-low ā€” patience is key, baby. You want that cheese to melt slower than the plot of a Netflix crime doc.
Place your sandwich in the pan, butter-side down. Press it gently with a spatula (or flex on them with a cast iron press). Cover the pan for 3-4 minutes. Flip once. Golden brown, crispy on the outside, gooey lava on the inside.

if youre still in Bali, you could try ā€œMartabak Kejuā€ which is an Indonesian pancake made with cheese & condensed milk, lowkey like a grilled cheese in dessert form :)

One of my favorite memories of being in my 20s and hiking through Thailand many, MANY years ago- weā€™re talking decades (plural!) - would have to be:

Hiking through the Thai jungle and purchasing a rucksack filled with several individual packs made of banana leaves (and tied with twine) from the locals - the rucksacks were sold to us American hikers as having ā€œall the provisions we would need on our hikeā€

When we finally found a place to make camp and start setting up a fire and drawing out a schedule for who would take night watch first, and what to do if we were attacked by this animal, or this animal, or that animal, etc etc etc-

Finally sat down to relax and opened up the rucksacksā€¦

Oh manā€¦ ohhhhh man!!

However good the BEST pad Thai you have EVER had is?
I can 100% GUARANTEE you this pad Thai was IMMENSELY better!

here in the philippines, our staple is bananas, and we have a lot of banana leaves, so instead of them going to waste, we cook our food in them, and use them at plates in a boodle fight

i love suman wrapped in banana leaves, it makes them have that really nice flavor
