I am surprised you haven't bought a diy light kit, using your own pottery, make a lamp. They're pretty easy.

To remove boob light:
1. Unscrew nipple
2. Carefully lower boob
3. Turn off power to light
4. Let bulbs cool down before removing bulbs.
5. Turn off breaker to room.
6. Using screw driver, remove faceplate.
7. You should see(depending on where you live) 3 wires connected by wire nuts.
8. Using a voltage meter, make sure no power is running through the wires. (If power is running through wires, most likely light is through a different breaker. Find it and shut it off before proceeding.)
9. Unscrew wire nuts disconnect wires. Make sure to screw wire nuts back onto the corresponding wires in the ceiling unless putting in a new fixture.

I filled my overhead light with glass dragon tears and marbles enough to soften the light and cover the bottom . In one of my other rooms I put pieces of broken glass from a crystal bowl . Both ideas gave a bit of ambiance, color and calming light reflecting ❤

As someone with glaucoma and the beginnings of cataract --- just you wait, young sir, just you wait. Bright lights are a must at a certain point.

I am starting to accept that my ADHD/autistic self NEEDS lots of lighting options and colorful Christmas lights feed my soul.😅 So good job switching the lights and letting yourself hang up your fairy lights. You do YOU and don’t worry about anyone else’s opinion! We have to take care of ourselves! Being a human is hard sometimes and anything that helps is a good idea in my book!

Step 1. Twist the nipple part of the boob light. This is what is holding the dome glass to the ceiling.
Step 2. Remove screws holding metal ring in place.
Step 3. Search "flush ceiling lighting" online and install.

Flush lighting is the easiest to replace. Im sure there are a bunch of tutorials on YouTube if you still aren't sure. ❤

I would contact your landlord about maybe changing out the loght, especially if ur a long-term renter! They sound totally chill& might be willing to help provide someone to swap put to a lamp that might work better for u

I consider overhead lighting to be the cleaning lighting. When dusting, sweeping and vacuuming I appreciate the brightness.

Replacing ceiling lights isn’t very challenging at all! I’m no handyman but I’ve done it a few times. Definitely look up a video, but it’s basically just turning off the breaker for the room, unscrewing the old light, taking off the caps that keep the light wires connected to the house wires, then attaching your new light’s wires to the house wires, screwing caps back on and fixture in place, and you’re good!!!

If you haven’t gotten rid of it yet, a ceiling fan would be nice. I have two in my studio, and it’s lovely to circulate the air a little better when the windows are open. 🥰

I agree with your opinion on overhead lights. Sinful. Hate crime. Intolerable.

I would try replacing the bulbs in the existing light with something less bright, or using less bulbs in it. I have a light like that, and mine has 3 bulbs in it. Try removing one and see if it helps
