15 American soldiers including two officers landed on the Italian coast as part of Operation Ginny 2. The group was captured by Italian Fascist militiamen and German soldiers. On 26 March 1944, the 15 Americans were executed by firing squad. Their bodies were buried in a mass grave. The U.S. soldiers had neither been tried nor even given a hearing. The execution were ordered by German General Anton Dostler.
Anton Dostler was convicted and sentenced to death by firing squad. Curt Bruns and Anton Dostler were the only two German officers to be shot by firing squads.

Anton Dostler was convicted of and paid the ultimate penalty of death for the war crime of shooting unarmed, captured POWs in uniform.
Q. How many Americans were even prosecuted, let alone found guilty and punished, for the exact same war crime in WW2 i.e. shooting unarmed POWs in uniform?
