I think what made Season 1 so special was that Tim Kono was completely unrelated to the group at the time of his murder.
Sure, Mabel would've interacted with him again at some point because of Oscar, but beyond that, he was just a blip. Them investigating was rebellious and dumb. I feel like the later seasons drop that off fast. Every season after, the murders were directly linked to them in some way. With the hook of Season 5, they seem to still be heading in that creative direction, which is disappointing to me personally.

I like them all for different reasons but season 3 was a standout in terms of production for me, all the storylines in terms of motive/murder so far have been lacklustre but everything else is amazing comedy/in jokes/set/atmosphere/costume/coziness/and even the guessing I really wish for seasons 6/7/8.
