Guns are a tool for killing, that is not something most civilians need or should have on them. if its for hunting or self defense you dont need something as overkill as an assault rifle, if youre an enthusiast or its something you study, etc then you should have to prove that it will not be a threat to others. preserving your right to own a weapon should not be put above public safety

I mean, the full amendment starts with “A well regulated militia.” I don’t fully disagree with you, I just disagree with your interpretation of the amendment. People arguing for better gun regulation don’t think a civilian should own an AR-15 in the same way they don’t think civilians should own anthrax. I think that we have a right to protect ourselves, but I also think the founding fathers understood the dangers of widespread maximum armament and left room for regulation. Amendments aren’t all encompassing. You are not allowed to scream “fire” in a crowded theater when there isn’t one, and that rule is not an infringement on your first amendment right.

Ar15s only shoot one bullet with one trigger pull like a hand gun. Btw, just about everything can be a weapon. You realize knives don't run out of bullets. Try telling a criminal not to carry a weapon and see how that goes. Not being rude or mean, just making a point.
I hate to be in your shoes when someone pulls a gun at you. You can't outrun a bullet.
