I did an ice only run and discovered the ice spear, it's so insane. You can also stand next to someone while casting and it'll hit on the pull back. (I just saw you had done that already 😅

Spectral lance was my go to on nightrider glaives for my very first run. It's a crucible knight killer 😍

The most underrated early game build is the banished knight halberd+spinning strike+blood flame inctation.
As long as it can be bled and poise broke, you can shred through any boss. Break the poise then spam that L2.

Yeah, I swapped between Ice Spear and Spectral Lance on my Naginata almost my entire 1st playthrough on launch last year. Ice Spear was better but I liked Lance a lot (haha pun) because of it's range and because it always seemed to get a headshot on a ton of enemies and get that auto stun.

When I first started playing Elden ring my entire goal was to be a spartan capable of throwing spears- I found this ash of war and I haven’t switched away from it. It’s the most fun thing that can be optimized for higher damage or further distances and it becomes so OP with poise.

If your talking about spectral lance being underrated then yes it is but if you talking about ice spear as well then it isn't underrated, it is overpowered
