This devotional is for John 16:22.

✝️ Like A Newborn Mother’s Joy (John 16:22)

John 16:22 states:

Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

In preparing His disciples for His departure, Jesus uses the parable of the mother who experiences great pain during the birthing process but forgets about it almost immediately upon the birth of her newborn child to describe how they will feel when He is permanently no longer with them in the physical sense.

Esoterically He is referring to what will be His Resurrection and then Heavenly Ascension without saying so explicitly.

In other words, sorrow is transformative.
