#CarpetResidency

It’s a residency on my long-haired carpet. During it, I explore artificial coincidence as a creativity tool. I never know in advance when the action will begin. Sometimes I feel it approaching. The residency began as a natural coincidence when the talk show in the background somehow connected with the action I was doing at the time. Other times, I turned on the background text or sound before I started, but I didn’t know what that text or sound would be about.

Artificial coincidence causes very similar emotions as natural coincidence. Things that you have been carrying inside for a long time usually come up. And coincidence (artificial or not) becomes a form of accessing them.

Tai rezidencija, vykstanti ant mano ilgaplaukio kilimo. Jos metu tyrinėju dirbtinį atsitiktinumą kaip kūrybiškumo įrankį. Niekada iš anksto nežinau, kada prasidės veiksmas. Nebent jaučiu jo artėjimą. Rezidencija prasidėjo kaip natūralus atsitiktinumas, kai fone ėjusi pokalbių laida nejučia susisiejo su veiksmu, kurį tuo metu dariau. Kitus kartus foninį tekstą ar garsą įjungdavau prieš pradėdama veiksmą, tačiau nežinodama, apie ką tasai tekstas ar garsas bus.

Dirbtinis atsitiktinumas sukelia labai panašias emocijas kaip ir natūralus atsitiktinumas. Dažniausiai iškyla tie dalykai, kuriuos ir taip ilgai nešiojiesi viduje. O atsitiktinumas (dirbtinis ar ne) tampa forma prie jų prisikapstyti.
