Cutting warm bread is a huge no-no for keeping it in tact, and massively impacts its crumb! All the Steam escaping would have been reabsorbed into it making it nice and soft and bouncy instead of the drier, tougher (more crumbly) crumb if sliced warm. 😊 Hope this helps your wife! Or even others in the comment

Let it cool down before cutting it. If you cut hot it’s real spongy and soft and won’t hold up when I try to cut it

In germany we say: If you can't slice bread with a knive your not ready to get married, I learned slicing bread at 3 and perfected it at 9ish which is pretty normal here
