Thatâs definitely true but anyone who had an iPhone 4S and updated to iOS 7, 8 and 9 vs sticking with iOS 6 will also remember that new software can make your phone close to unusable regardless of battery quality. Obvs great Apple tried to keep supporting it for years, security, blah blah, but the difference and lack of optimisation was still insane.

Iâm upgrading my iPhone 8 Plus to the just released 16. My 8 has had the battery replaced, and it made a huge difference, but now they no longer make that battery and the only ones available are âleft oversâ that have been in inventory for years.
Be careful about the replacement and verify manufacturing date if you want to assure full performance.
My 8 is still perfectly functional in all ways, even though it doesnât have all the latest hardware. Iâd keep using it if I could get an actual new battery.

As a cell phone repair technician, I CANNOT STRESS THIS STATEMENT ENOUGH! YOU DONâT NEED A NEW PHONE! The replacement parts will be more expensive because the phone is newer, the screens will be insanely expensive because theyâre OLED or they fold, and the common person doesnât care about those features, theyâre just upset things donât work the same way they used to because âsomethingâs wrongâ. Most phone batteries are around $50 or less, as long as most of the other components working fine, youâll save yourself a lot by holding off and just putting a new battery in your current daily driver. Thanks Marquees

I worked for Apple as a Genius technician and many times I've had people coming in for multiple unexpected behaviors that is going on with their phone. Our default solution is to restore the device if every other method of troubleshooting fails prior to replacing the phone. We also have a terms and agreement that people are required to accept to continue the session that the phone not turning back on is not our fault during repair steps and your alternative is to purchase a new phone if the device is older and is not on Apple Care. Some times we get a boot error message when we connect it to our computers and it's usually a processor issue (basically means FUBAR), it just happens to coincide with iOS updates. This usually occurs to older phones like the 7 and the 8's as it is rare for newer phones to behave this way.
