The route from Prionia ( 1100 m. ) to the shelter " Spilios Agapitos " ( 2100 m. ), is the most frequented hiking trail of Olympus, part of the E4 , and is the natural continuation of the Litochoro - Prionia route. Prionia is the last point that we can reach by car ( it is 18 kilometers from Litochoro ) There, the Enipeas river has its sources . A refreshment bar and a restaurant operate all year round in Prionia and there is a car park. There are public toilets, as well as fountains, to fill your buckets. Your car can be left overnight or for a long time without a problem.

Most of the route is through the forest. The trail is very well maintained. Dense pines combined with beeches and firs give the landscape a special charm.

At about 2 ⁄ 3 of the way, you come out of the forest and the path with many successive turns climbs up towards the shelter. From this point you can see the shelter perched high on a rock ledge. This part may seem quite difficult for you, as you will already be tired and the summer is exposed to the sun. So be careful as the sun at high altitude has stronger radiation and there is a risk of sunburn.

Spilios Agapitos shelter is located on a natural balcony surrounded by impressive centuries-old rombolas.
