In 1999 I was talking to a Canadian girl on IRC and she mailed me a CD of the best of The Tragically Hip. She decorated it with hand drawn pictures of birds. This was the first song I fell in love with from that CD.

I was 17 (51 now) when I first saw The Hip at Courtcliffe park and what an experience for a young punk like me to have, I’ll never forget it. I was lucky enough to catch one of the final four shows. It was the most emotional show I’ve ever been to, by the end there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Still puts a lump in my throat thinking about it. Thanks Gordy, we miss you 😢
