I have played clarinet for 9 years now, in college, and I used some of these techniques which allowed me to do really well in high school, and I slowly became the best clarinet player in the band! If anybody else is reading this, just know that even if you don’t sound good now, certain techniques will bring you success, go clarinets!

I'm starting back playing clarinet as an adult. It's been 18 years since I played in high school band...but I had played 6th grade through 11th grade, and didn't do band my senior year because of an internship. My high school band recently held an alumni night and it got me excited to start playing again. I eventually want to start learning to play other instruments. These lessons on YouTube help so much.

as a saxophonist who's willing to try flute and clarinet, I'd give Ms Allen a big hug so now I can literally play clarinet, fingering systems make sense to me here

I’ve been playing Clarinet since February of 2022. When I first started clarinet, It took a long time to progress because I had no private lessons, and I wasn’t in band yet. Now, it’s my “primary” along with Bass Clarinet. I’m slowly branching out to different instruments like Saxophone, and Bassoon to be a music educator one day. You and Mr.Knicl inspire me to become one eventually.

Watching you has actually brought me so much joy it's like I have a band director online! Plus, I've improved so much than how I was last year in fifth grade beginning band! I love the clarinet and hopefully I'll be able to switch to a bass or contrabass clarinet! Thank you, Mrs. Allen!

This is so helpful. I play Clarinet in my school band, and i'm the only one of 8 Clarinets that can play above the break. Therefore, I have a lot of high parts. This really helps me not to squeak or fish for notes. Thank you for your awesome videos!! - Colby<3

I absolutely love your clarinet tricks! As I’ve said before, I only started the clarinet recently and my concert is in a month. We’re playing Jerusalema and I’m the only one playing second clarinet😭 and the notes are so high
I definitely needed this thank you!🙏

I've been playing clarinet since I was 18, and I'm likely going to get an Eb clarinet for my 26th on the day before Thanksgiving!

I hope I can tune it well so I can play MORE Bohemian brass pieces.

Careful with the register key! Sliding up to it and back down gets clunky with time. For smoother transitions to the high notes, place your thumb diagonally across the thumb hole. Your hand should be comfortable and your thumb should be touching the register key at all times. When you need to open the key, just bend the tip of your thumb a little bit! Hope this helps!

When you do the ABCs, you can keep your right hand down when you switch from A to B. This also works for G to B ❤
