Did you know how our ancestors reached Pitriloka after their demise? And why we require these 16 days to perform Shradh for them?

Here’s a little story for you.

Our ancestors left their body to move from this Loka to a more powerful, divine place. After leaving their body, they stay in an interim phase for 10 days. The Rishis have named this period of 10 days as Preta Yoni.
It is said that in these 10 days, these souls can hear and understand whenever we talk about them, remember them, appreciate them, and share their memories with others.

On 11nth day, the Preta crosses the Vaitarani river to become Pitra and stay in a Relm of ancestors.

During these 15 days of the year, we invoke the Pitris, who have passed on to the other side.
But we cannot simply call them anytime. So they have a custodian Devata, they are called Vishva Devas.

So we invoke Vishva devas 1st to bring our ancestors during Pitra Paksha.

Our ancestors are closest to our Loka, and on their Punya tithis, we call them and perform rituals for their moksha and blessings.
