Any object marked with both 18K and 750 should raise suspicion as goldsmiths/jewelers almost always use one or the other.

This man looks exactly what I would want a jewelry/gold person to look like if I had something to bring in.

Fun fact: we now have bench top x ray machines that give a breakdown of carat and alloy composition in a couple of seconds. No acid required

I have no clue how I stumbled upon this channel but this was fascinating. You're not only providing writing tips in the middle of the video, you also provide valuable information that is extremely useful for historical and fantasy writers

Great and clear presentation of how to test your jewellery. Thank you for this. Outside of the trade few people know and it was always difficult telling customers that their property was not what they thought it was.

A touchstone also makes for an extremely cheap and cutesy gift to anyone who loves jewellery. There are a few different types of stone that you can just find in the wild so long as you know what to look for, and the natural ones obviously look way cuter than the purpose-made modern-type ones.

A nice presentation and maybe a nice little carved message, and you've transformed a worthless thing into "an easy to use and extremely useful magic rock that can tell you what metal anything is made of".

Plus all the good touchstone materials are really tactile and satisfying to handle with some being a gorgeous navy blue obsidian colour.
