I think part of it is that blonde is associated with youth as many children born with light colored hair usually have their hair darken as they get older. Natural platinums are rare even within natural blondes after their 20’s.

I love being platinum fake bleach blonde. Truly wonderful. Had an old man tell me "you look like if you got any blonder, you'd disappear!" Thank you old man. I put in the work to look like this. (Sat down in intense discomfort for 2 hours every 8 weeks)

This makes me feel better knowing that being brunette is more common naturally, because it doesn’t always feel that way

These shorts don't give an educational vibe, but I learn so much! Also, the speech pace is perfect- exactly the speed I read and think at!

Part of the obsession is also related to the fact that Blonde hair is a staple of Eurocentric beauty. I'm mixed race, with my father being blonde with blue eyes. Many people encourage me to have children with men that have the same traits because "your children would be so beautiful." Someone once tried pressuring me to marry their son because it would "purify my line," I was only 14. The obsession with blonde hair has always kinda creeped me out because of this. Why can't all hair and skin be considered beautiful?

Great video! But it also makes me think about how (as a natural blonde) the obsession of blondness in society kinda weirds me out. I cant only speak from my own personal experiences but strangers pointing out my hair purely for the fact that its blonde, people not accepting their hair has darkend to no longer be blonde after puberty, and other similar stuff is so confusing.

Idk i feel like it might be related to people's obsession with youth. Generally i feel peoples natural hair color is extremely well suited for bringing out their charm ❤

Please talk about hair trends in other cultures! I thought it was so cool that indigenous Mexicans thought blue hair was The Thing since turquoise was a precious stone

i still think about this one book i read where, while at a reformatory school of some kind(??), in a fit of rebellion a girl chopped her hair then used JUST regular medical grade hydrogen peroxide to bleach it from deep black to, what i remember being described as, a perfect light blonde. all in one sitting, in the school bathroom. i think about it every time i have to spend an entire afternoon bleaching my black hair to a midtone yellow-blond. it was a fallen angel book, maybe it was divine intervention.

Also, wealthy European women in the renaissance used horse urine with nice smelling herbs. You had to be rich enough to own horses tho. And they also used the same mixture on their eyebrows.
Edit: the practice began during medieval times, but Venice became famous for it.
