Why are you deleting comments I made? Your video is mis-leading viewers to toggle iCloud Photos off, and then they wonder why all their photos are gone. This CSS Technology cannot be dealt with in a 60 seconds video. At least explain, that when iCloud is used with multiple devices (like a family) iCloud Photo sync needs to be de-activated on ALL devices. And please explain, what happens when iCloud photos is de-activated.

Also, Apple is not introducing CSS for the time being, so for now, there is no need to have iCloud Photos switched off. And if it is introduced in future, it is only an issue for US citizens.

Not that I have anything to hide but my privacy is mine not the government. Apparently transparency is a one way street.

“We don’t have anything to hide” might be the worst excuse for allowing privacy intrusion i’ve ever heard… and for the record, you’re not the first person i’ve heard say it, but maybe the most respected.

As stated great idea, in concept . however my concern is that step by step our privacies are being stripped away and not many are of aware this. Please look at the history of this once great nation. The reason for its founding was to escape tyranny which stared with seemingly good moral ideas, that lead to loss of the very freedoms that our constitution and bill of rights have granted us.

They aren’t decrypting the pictures and scanning them, they’re scanning your library for the hash of known CSAM, the way they’re going about it is perfect. Backing off after announcing it is the problem. If they were scanning your actual images I’d have an issue with it but looking through looking for matches isn’t a problem.

Your instructions are good but not so clear. What do we do after we turned off iCloud Photos? Do we 'Remove from iPhone' or 'Download Photos & Videos'?

I’ve NEVER had iCloud photos On. I transfer everything via cables, Bluetooth, or Airdrop. I mean never. My large family needed to make sure we spend as little as possible and we saw that using iCloud to host our materials meant we’d go over the free limit fast, so at the beginning we shut it off and at every update we check/turn it Off again.

The most idiotic statement “we don’t have anything to hide “.

I think your first should have stated please watch the video to the end before making changes on your device. So that people would not make the mistake that someone else did. I am glad I watched the entire thing since it was only one minute long. It’s good to know because I was not even aware that they are scanning all of everyone’s photos

You can buy a USB<->Lightning backup.. definitely recommend.. got one for Christmas like 7-8 years ago and just unload my phone every 3 years- boom no need for iCloud 🥳

I entered “draw” into the search box to find a drawing app on my iPhone. The results included eight of my photos that have the text “draw” in them. You can enter cat, dog, car or many other words and the phone will find the photos with those items in them.

Apple is already monitoring your photos and knows what you have.

Edit: None of my photos are on iCloud.

The two of you saying "We don't have anything to hide" have something to hide

This is not true. Child pornography have specific codes (not sure what they are called) which are used to identify them. Apple uses these codes to find these child pornography photos. They aren’t scanning photos using ai technology. Apples method prevents false detections like your child in the bathtub and keeps their promise of your privacy.

I have not updated to iOS 15. Should I?

Don't worry, this definitely won't be used to destroy a family because they sent photos of their child to their doctor for medical reasons...
