This is so not true... Where did you get with this idea? Just observe how cats react to other cats and how they react to humans. Completely different. In a way, just as we don't see cats as humans, cats don't see as cats, hence the social behavior is different toward us. This creates a barrier that softens everything.
For example, see how cats react to another human (a guest) coming to our house. Then try to do the same, introducing a different cat, observe how strongly triggers the reaction in your cat.
