That reminded me of my first gig. It was at the theater of my highschool. I was playing a bass solo, and all of a sudden, a bunch of people in the back started singing happy birthday to someone. Everyone turned their attention to them. I prepared weeks for that moment and only a handful of people noticed me.

Most places I have played at make you wait til the game is over before you even setup. So you think "awesome I'm early that means I don't have to rush" then the barman tells you. "you have to wait, take a seat it's not even half time yet" and then place emptied after the final whistle

Reminds me of when me and a friend were at a festival... early morning nursing the mother of all hangovers my mate and I were sitting down on the grass... we start seeing a group of very good looking girls eyeing us up... they start moving in... closer... and closer... we try and act as nonchalant as possible until they're standing right in front of us!! It was at this moment we both turned around to notice they weren't eyeing us up, they were just looking at the festival map that was directly behind us 😶
