Taylor and Matty already knew each other. When Joe dropped the ball Taylor was broken hearted after six years together. I think Matty brought some life back into her and she felt so alive after being so broken. That’s why the fortnight she had with Matty she didn’t want to let go of. Matty made her feel happy and alive again.

People write songs-doesn’t always have to be about their own personal life! Sure, she does write those type songs sometimes but not every single one of them are based on her life solely! She’s wrote about her friends and their stories as well-she’s a song writer so stop making every fkn song have to be about a man, her and a man, this man or that man! Just let her be! I’m glad she’s with Travis after all those years wasted with Joe, I hope she can finally have her happily ever after and Travis comes from the same family values, hard work and dedication in everything he does, and they are just good together and hopefully the media won’t destroy them. The way he is at her concerts (Joe NEVER acted like that) and the way she is at his games is adorable and they really respect each other!! I loved her with Joe and he seemed so sweet and genuine but he was struggling to break thru as an actor, he is a good actor and loved him in The Favourite, but I think he didn’t want them in spotlight bc he knew it wouldn’t be on him, but on her. He wanted to make it on his own and not bc of her or be recognized/get jobs bc of her. Everyone that thinks this song is about Joe or Travis is in a state of pathological denial &/or very likely part of the pearl clutching open letter squad. She & Matty have been confessing their love to each other for 9 years.
She literally paints that picture in Fortnight. They're both in the madhouse of a shared love & co-workers in a shared career where they write love letter songs to each other & their twin flame souls connect.
Cut to them laying on a bed of those hundreds of love letter songs that takes a similar shape to Swift's iconic 1989 silhouette where Swift holds a book titled "US". She's saying the story of "US" began with the release of 1989.
Then, the moment they finally get to touch each other... the cyclone comes (the fans). These winds throw their confessions of love into the air & the decade of pages burn completely isolating Matty from Taylor.
Both caught in the storm & isolated, he's stuck in the same old box, claiming he's calling but she's not there... while she's always with him. He need only come out of the box, look up, & take her by the hand.
In every video, except for the Eras of Lover & just after, Taylor cast lookalikes. "Trouble" cast a John Mayer type. "All Too Well" & "Never Getting Back Together" cast a Jake lookalike. "Style" cast a Harry lookalike.
She chose the dark eyed, tat-covered, & curly haired Post Malone for a reason. He don't look like Joe or Travis. He's representative of Matty.
