In this video, I cover George Harrison's solo featured on the single version of 'Let It Be ', Which has been played at various speeds for ease of learning. The single was initially released on March 6th, 1970, and the album sharing the same title was released on May 8th 1970, featuring a different solo. Many variations of the solo have been released over the years, and they are all largely based around the C Pentatonic Major scale and are ideal for any lead guitar player heading into the intermediate level of lead guitar playing. Various slurred notes, such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, and slides, are featured in these performances, and a double stop occurs at the beginning of the album version. These techniques are ideal for adding some depth to your lead guitar phrasing.
The single version was produced by Geroge Martin, and the later album release was produced by Phil Spector. George Martin's version contained a more melodic and repetitive solo that follows a sixteenth-note feel. Phil Spector's mix contained a harder-hitting, bluesy, expressive solo with more definitive structure and variation. On both mixes of 'Let It Be', a "ghost solo" from an earlier mix of the song can be faintly heard in the background. The single solo follows a similar feel to the "ghost solo". Many other versions of different takes of this classic Beatles song have been released in recent years with different solos played by George Harrison. However, they generally follow the same vibe as the original.
