INGREDIENTS (SERVES 6)
½ cup sugar ½ cup water 1 pound silken tofu 8 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon chili powder, or more to taste
PREPARATION
In a small pot, combine the sugar and water; bring to a boil and cook until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly. While the sugar mixture is still warm (but not scorching hot), add the chocolate and stir until melted. Put all ingredients in a blender and puree until completely smooth, stopping machine to scrape down its sides if necessary. You can add a little water, one tablespoon at a time, to reach your desired consistency if it’s too thick. Divide among 6 serving bowls and chill for at least 30 minutes. If you like, garnish with chocolate chips or chocolate shavings before serving.
