Destinies is a competitive, story-driven, game of adventure and exploration, mixing an app and a board game.

The first in a series of games using a brand-new system called Destinies. This game is set in a dark medieval-fantasy universe.

The Destinies system offers a fully story-driven, app-supported, RPG-like board game experience, without the need for a game master. Each scenario depicts a part of a vivid world, full of dark stories, epic NPCs and mysteries to solve. Each player takes the role of a hero on a quest to fulfill their destiny. Each destiny is a final goal of the character and has at least two, completely different paths to victory, composed of branching series of quests. Players compete with each other to push the world towards their own destiny.

The game uses an app and the Scan&Play technology to offer players a unique story-driven experience full of dynamic events, epic adventures, and an ever-changing game world. Each turn players discover new parts of the world presented on tiles, explore them and pick one point of interest to visit. There they learn more about the story and make crucial choices of how they want to interact with people, creatures or situations faced there. The consequences of each choice are meaningful and often change the state of the world forever.

Me and my wife absolutely fell in love with this game. Admittedly we like other app driven games such as Journey's in Middle Earth, Mansions of Madness and Descent for example, but this one pulled us in like never before and we get fully immersed in the story. After playing just 3 of the stories from the core we bought all the other expansions, plus the 2v2 box!

I bought this last Christmas and just realized I never opened it! Psyched for a one to three person RPG.

For me Destinies was such a lackluster. I found the story shallow as a puddle. The game has width for sure (if you need a quest item the board is littered with them), but no depth to speak of. The puzzles are way too straight forward. But maybe it is only me.

Man was I dissappointed with this game, yes the app works OK, but I didn't actually feel like there was any game there . Especially when playing with more than one person and not being the person who wins sucked so much. You are just left half way through your story and likely lost because someone else lucked into the things they needed to complete theirs. I went all in on the Kickstarter and sold it after a month having played it a good number of times waiting for it to turn into something. I think this game may have worked if it was purely cooperative where you were enjoying the story together and working together on a solution. In that instance the lack of any real gameplay mechanisms possibly wouldn't have hurt so much, but as a competitive game it just fell completely flat.

Of this gendre, story driven games, which is my favorite type of game, this is one of the only I really dislike a lot. I find the story extremely boring. The religious theme in every scenario is quite annoying to me. I don’t mind at all the character classes like Cleric or Priest in RPGs, but this something else, the whole world is about religion. At first I was intrigued by this game, because it is not cooperative and these types of game usually are. I find that it not being a coop game, removes a lot of the fun you usually have in a story driven game, where everyone is on the same team.
