I was there in person last night with my little sister. We had just found out that our dad had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this week and was laid up at Inova Fairfax after liver surgery. My dad, a lifelong Senators and now Nats fan, insisted I still take my little sister last night despite everything.
We had been having a terrible, emotional week, but we were so excited to see Stone come back after his injury.
Seeing Garret hit that homer and then cry when talking about his mother brought me and my sister to tears. It really hit home for both of us. He has been an inspiration to me that I have to keep going. I have to keep fighting for my family and their wellbeing.
I know Garrett may never see this, but on the off chance he does: thank you. You deserve all of God's blessings. Go Nats!
