The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel, painted in 1847, is a powerful and emotional depiction of a moment of loss and defiance. The painting shows a young, angelic figure seated on a rocky surface, gazing upwards with piercing, sorrowful eyes. This fallen angel is traditionally interpreted as Lucifer, cast out of Heaven. His gaze is a mix of pain, anger, and defiance, capturing the complexity of his fate and his resentment toward the heavens.

Cabanel’s skillful use of light and shadow emphasizes the angel’s beauty, with delicate details highlighting his muscular form and golden hair. His wings are slightly folded, and his hand clenches in tension, signaling the inner turmoil and humiliation of his fall. Around him, a faint glow hints at his otherworldly origin, now dimmed as he is cast to earth. The painting combines romantic and classical elements to explore themes of rebellion, beauty, and tragic loss, capturing a figure caught between divine beauty and tragic despair.

Lucifer rebelled because God was a hypocrite and didn't want anyone, including humans, to be equal to him.
Also, God abandoned his ONLY son, Jesus, and in my opinion, SA mother Mary. So who's the REAL villian?!?!
