Iā€™m sure Napoleon commissioned that portrait of himself, in the white pants. šŸ˜®

Egypt and the Middle East is where Napoleon acquired the incurable habit of abandoning his army, as shown afterward in Russia and Waterloo.

In the interim, he seduced at least one subordinate's wife and kickstarted a wave of archeological and cultural interest in Ancient Egypt. As one does.

The Ottomans did select an unknown soldier from Armenia by the name Muhammad Ali the First, and a new chapter of Egypt history did start.

In 1799, Napoleon committed some war crimes. During his Egypt campaign, he captured Jaffa. After 2,400ā€“4,000 Ottoman soldiers surrendered, he ordered them to be bayoneted, shot, or drowned to avoid guarding or feeding them. Very ruthless, but efficient.

Lord Nelson was a captivating figure of history in his own right. There were few who could match him in naval engagements.

How much involvement did the British East India company have, when their company monopoly was threatened with France? Love to hear about the ā€œBehind the Scenes ā€œ of this story! Our history teaches us nothing about that Super Rich Monopoly and power in world events!

Terrible plan. You just don't expose your army like that. He allowed Britain's naval strength to shine.

To the purists it's Aboukir Bay; the dilettantes call it the Battle of the Nile.

The stand out events of the Battle of the Nile were that Nelson managed to manoeuvre, (French word), half his fleet between the French ships and the shore while the other half were to the seaward side, genius, thus trapping them between two fires. The second event was the explosion of the magazine, (another French word) of the ''Orient' , a horrific accident that sealed the victory of the British fleet over that of the French.

I just donā€™t pay attention to when stuff drops so itā€™s always equally exciting and I donā€™t misjudge something bc I waited for it.
