The stand out events of the Battle of the Nile were that Nelson managed to manoeuvre, (French word), half his fleet between the French ships and the shore while the other half were to the seaward side, genius, thus trapping them between two fires. The second event was the explosion of the magazine, (another French word) of the ''Orient' , a horrific accident that sealed the victory of the British fleet over that of the French.

fun fact: some of those Frenchmen signed on as artillerymen when the US sent an "expedition" overland from Egypt to Libya fight the barbary pirates.
