The problem with this is that it's a 4 memory play and red has little way to get to 4 memory without prior set up which is the main weakness of this chain. Now if the evolution only happened at one cost then we'd be cooking but good video!

I dont think this combo works because of the way its worded. You have to digivolve into emperorgreymon, because it says to digivolve. So, digivolving into Emperor greymon is a requirement to activate the effect, since if you're not digivolving into Emperor greymon, you wouldn't be able to initiate the effect anyway.
