Yup. I do this and it helps immensely. Its very important to observe your own playing and find the problem areas, then work on them by themselves, then slowly integrate them into the rest of the section and piece.

I use this with my piano students, and the results are successful! They can perform (more or less haha) with consistent flow with transitions.

This is a very important thing to do. Practicing the section then adding in the section before it, then after it is something you should always do. I also find that sometimes when I practice just the section my fingering is different than when I do the whole thing bc it's not taking into consideration where my hands and fingers are before that section. Practicing the transition helps so much with that, especially when it's trickier fingering.
