I have to admit, programs are not perfect. People think that once you pass someone, you are automatically set to get hit by a red shell, but that isn’t the case. I took computer science classes in high school, and my most complicated program ever (an interactive currency converter) would sometimes take a few seconds to register and execute a certain code. I imagine it is a very similar circumstance here, especially since it probably wasn’t even a second when I saw the shell get thrown.

I assume it's because it was thrown before you were in front of them? And so it goes after the person in last place rather than you?
