There's something beautiful about how one man saved a whole area of rainforest by stubbornly refusing to die.

Everyone is going on about him being a lone survivor refusing to die, but imagine what it's like to be that guy. He hasn't had anyone to talk to in decades, and probably doesn't speak any outside languages. It's basically solitary confinement, but in the woods, and combined with his friends and family being dead.

Poor guy! Its so fkin sad I feel for him. My ancestors survived a genocide as well. We ALMOST were wiped out.
SO much KNOWLEDGE about that part of the forest is now lost forever. When an indigenous group disapears, so too does 1000s of years of botanical and ecological knowledge. These are things humanity may NEVER learn again 😢
