Famous Lahori-Style Khalifa Naan Khatai خلیفہ نان ختائی with oven Detailed Recipe by Meraamskitchen
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups white flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup ghee
3/4 cup ground sugar
1 tablespoon gram flour
1 tablespoon semolina
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
Few cut almonds (for garnish)
Proven almonds (for added flavor)
Egg yolk (for egg wash)
Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, gram flour, semolina, and cardamom powder). Mix well.
2. Add the ghee, ground sugar, cut almonds, and proven almonds to the dry ingredients. Mix with hands for 4-5 minutes until a dough forms.
3. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or butter paper.
5. Divide the dough into small balls and shape into round naan khatai. Brush with egg yolk and garnish with cut almonds.
6. Bake for 20 minutes, then turn on the upper and lower grill for an additional 5 minutes to achieve a beautiful color.
7. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Allow air to pass through for a crispy texture.
8. Serve and enjoy!
Note: You can adjust the amount of sugar and spices to your taste preferences. Additionally, you can add a pinch of food coloring to the egg wash for a festive touch.
