My school shut down the program half way through my degree. This was during Covid. They told me I could finish my degree doing 100% "self study" . No instructors to help. I asked what it'd cost me... Without any instructors helping. They told me Full Price... And I'd be required to take the vaccine. I walked away. Two years and tens of thousands of dollars wasted. I'm a big proponent of education, technical training, etc.. But there are no guarantees in life... even with education.

There are places out there paying $10/hr requiring people to have bachelors degrees. There are places that give you ā€œTestsā€ in software programming as part of your interview, but they donā€™t hire you and just use your work to turn in to a client for a quick payday. These companies deserve no loyalty at all.

Thank God I learned a trade; I worked hard, retired at 55 and now I'm living in Costa Rica with my beautiful conservative Latina wife. pura vida

Society has outgrown academics as a method for determining worthy employees. I do hope the education system is someday saved, from both the ideological and economical dilemmas.

I dropped out of engineering university during Covid. I was burning money, and the isolation and depression from the lockdowns made my grades plummet. I dropped out to save money, and I'm not sure if I'm ever going back. Not worth it.

Never went to collage. Never believed that the end justified the means.
So I worked entry level & worked myself to a 6-figured position, doing what I loved to do.
But I feel for young kids today. They will probably not reach their potential due to limited opportunities.
The American dream has left.

Whenever Iā€™m ready to leave a job, I donā€™t even put in 2 weeks at this point. I look up how the business ran over the Covid stuff and if they fired employees without 2 weeks notice then I just quit with no warning. Itā€™s really stupid to do since there isnā€™t any guarantee that theyā€™ll go along with my future resume.

Ask yourself the question: how many people should work NATIONALLY in marketing?
How many marketing firms are actually looking for more people to hire?
This profession is overpopulated already.

Tech school graduate here, it was absolutely the right move but it still doesnt feel like anywhere near enough. I went in to be a machinist and i got a job in a shop that does aerospace and military contracts at 21/hour, im at 23 now but i have 2 roomates, my share of the rent and regular monthly costs keeps me at nearly net 0 in my bank account

The biggest problem of people going to colleges: They donā€™t research their degree / career field availability, and go to overpriced colleges.

Ex: I went for graphic design. Yes, I needed a degree, and the demand for graphic designers is steady and is clear that there are always people who need them somewhere. Went to a university where my entire 5 year education was $30,000. That is often equal or less than a single semester at most colleges and universities these people are attending.

I like, appreciate, and respect the fact that these two girls are actually trying to get a job in the field that they went to school for... But Steven makes a great point in the fact that they didn't plan very well for salary when they chose to go to school for that vocation.

You weren't lied to, you were told to give yourself the best possible start, even without a degree and doing okay i advocate education for the purpose of playing the system.

Completely agree with them. Iā€™ve got a bachelors and have been working for over 5 years full time & nowhere is hiring. Itā€™s either ghosting or going with another candidate out of 200 applicants
