I will say i respect my stepdads "mancave" in the garage. He goes there to smoke and play his guitar, but every weekend he puts up lights and makes drinks in there at his bar and has my mom sit in there with him while he puts on a show. Its lowkey v wholesome

I was taught that a "mancave" was just a space that all the dangerous stuff was kept put away and whenever my uncle (who works a lot) just wanted some space an time to work quietly, an he raised his kids the same way that if they would like space,
they politely inform them that they would like alone time, an go work on something quiet when they just feel like having space. Reading, wanting to color alone, take a nap.
His is just his workshop, and if he's in the house, they knock and ask if they can join him.
If they get too loud or rowdy, he asks them to calm down or go to another room, an they do the same thing if people come in their rooms.
A space to be adults away from children and have time with friends and relax together.

Yeah, my husband and I each have a cave and itās great. Actually I have two and he has one. We are empty nesters and itās healthy to have even a little corner thatās all yours. We rarely go into each otherās spaces, theyāre pretty sacred to us! It supports our individuality since we have worked together for 30+ years.
