What sanjog, I was telling about this yesterday to my friend. I was telling him about my favourite and frankly underrated vegie अरुई which is called अरबी in Hindi and Taro in English and how it may have been the older word for potato but now looking up entries it comes from a different but clearly related word Sanskrit. आलुकी

In my language, magahi elephant yam or zaminqand/suran is called ओल which sounds like a reflex of आलुक . So maybe we loaned आलू from Hindi later.
