I think Neil is wrong on this, it doesn't matter that they aren't in a line, they are still in the same position relative to each other no matter where the observer is, so if you went far enough to the other side it would essentially be a mirror image apart from the brightness of the corners

Dr. Tyson is very right with 1 exception.
There is one area where the constellations would look the exact opposite

“Me and the universe go way back” is a subtle hint that neil is actually god.

if you were too average, the stars distance to define a plane on which they appeared to be, traveling to the other side at the same distance and alignment relative to that plane will give you a mirror image of the big dipper. This would be approximately 163 light years.

You have to know the locations of each star in the constellation...you could make a 3D cad drawing essentially of the figure. The issue is we look at a constellation as a 2D object but it's really a 3D object. Taken out of context here but there he doesn't answer in the clip. You can do it.

If we consider the depth of a constellation to be the difference in the earth-distances of its farthest star and nearest star, it becomes easier to grasp what he means.

Hypothetically, twice as far as the furthest star(or cluster) from earth, then know where to look back to, to peer in the direction of earth.

Another clip of Neil acting like he's smart and being completely wrong.

If would be reversed, just like a mirror... This experiment is easily done in your own yard using sticks of various lengths or anything else for that matter.
Place said items in a pattern and move directly to the other side of it the same distance away and guess what? It is reversed from what you see on the other side...
Neil is only good at making shit up, can't take him seriously at all.
