Also keep in mind this is the west bank. Not gaza. So this isnt to "punish hamas" this is the side that is completely controlled by israel not hamas. The Palestine authority which is the defacto authority there has no power at all and have been constantly bullied for decades to not allow them any sliver of independence. There is no hamas in the west bank, it is filled with israeli checkpoints limiting movement of palestinians, and its an area that is slowly fading away because of illegal settlements of israelis coming from America and european countries to take over the place for free and kicking out the locals.
Again this is NOT Gaza. This is the WEST BANK. So imagine how much worse it was in Gaza.
