The borders finally reopened here in Australia. Me, my wife, and some of our kids (all adults) are taking a three month trip to Samoa and staying with my in-laws. I can't wait to be back out on the islands, thousands of miles away from all the world's problems. I'm going to wake up first thing every morning and take a salt bath in the crystal clear Pacific water. And I'll hopefully go out on my father in law's boat and fish a lot. I'm long overdue for this trip. It's great being self employed. I can do all my work from there (although my patience will be tested by shitty Pacific island internet). Life is great. During the lockdowns, when me and the kids were fed up, I promised them that the moment the borders open, we're going on the first plane to Samoa. And I made good on that promise. We've still got to do a two week quarantine in Samoa, but I've already arranged to be able to do it in my in-laws' guesthouse. Once we finish that, we're in covid-free Samoa. Free to talk salt baths and fishing trips. I might even go over to American Samoa so I can step foot in the US and see how life in America is.
