Ironically, what you described makes me even more comfortable with not believing while being okay with your beliefs. My scholarship tells me that humans constantly construct their religions from each other and from scratch, regardless of any evidentiary basis. When I bear that concept in my own mind without sugarcoating it, it stops me from being able to construct a new theology, because I realize that any new mystical beliefs I make are just another construction without an evidentiary basis (unless evidence actually DOES come up regarding deities, in which case Iāll have to believe in that discovery). Itās what led me to discard my god beliefs in the first place. Regardless of which path either of us are on, it consoles me that we both got there by putting evidence first. The method matters more than an arbitrary end.
