All you can tell from the gage IF it is working is the line is not purged, and the ball, is going to tell you if there is FLOW. That device is neat.

This is a genuinely good idea and i could see it slowly become a standard to have on bottles. Can’t even count how many times i’ve ran to the workshop to triplecheck that the bottle is closed.

Love the device! If the ball is floating you have a serious leak to the ones that said that get some soapy water in a bottle 😂. To the others if you want to know if your bottles closed bump the trigger a few times to release stored pressure from the line! Or get one of these handles

Honestly the first time I saw your open indicator my first thought wasn’t to doubt the need for it. My first thought was “oh that’s neat you can tell if it’s open or not from 30 feet away!”

Im not sure with things specific welding, but I i used to work with those bottles in a cryo shop (N2 & O2), depending on how the guage works, it could still be reading pressure leftover in the line as well.
Always check all of it before handling any of it!

In case you release the pressure from the nozzle. At that other end. That's why you also supposed to clear your line.

Turn Knob Clockwise to close, Turn Knob counterclockwise too Open allways CK.

So unless im mistaken, a constant pressure (ie needle not moving) shows its closed, however a small fluctuation in the needle would state its open as its gas moving through compressed tubes and so fluctuates a bit.. as for ball, not a clue

Then check again a few minutes later when you forgot if you checked it before leaving the shop.
