Its not about the new gen types, but about the one you can actually use, in 3rd gen you could still find Voltorb, Electrode, Magnemite, etc. While for fore types aside from starters and legendaries you had the Ponyta line, the magby line and thats it

Although it is silly to fire specialist when there are two fire type options i don’t get how there being 2 fire types available in the regional dex is such a common critique it not like having a fire type on your team is state mandated.

To be fair Gen 2 "And I assume 3" let you actually collect the largest majority of the Pokemon in the game somewhat easily without having to get to the post game.

yeah, but gen 2 sucks in it's entirety,
so I'm gonna keep hatin on gen 4.
and it's not that gen 4 didn't add much fire types it's that the region doesn't have ANY, like they didn't use practically any from gen 1-3 either

Infernape and Rapidash were the only Fully Evolved Fire Types you could use in Diamond and Pearl. Flint literally had less than half his team be Fire Type
