Nevermind that that's a highly debated philosophical question and the reason why the abortion debate is such a hot topic that never reaches a conclusion is because we can't agree on when life begins. Biblically it begins at birth. Legally it begins at first independent breath. Scientifically...biologists have no clue. Philosophically...all of the above (except for the 18th birthday thing, 18 is a completely arbitrary number, a human reaches autonomy way earlier, reaches their conclusion of development later and by the time they become 18 can even create new humans which leaves you with the confusing conundrum that a person can give birth before they begin to live according to that definition, so I think we can dismiss that fairly easily)? Besides, for the purpose of abortion laws we should also completely dismiss the religious argument. Claiming to have religious freedom yet making laws based on religious belief that everyone has to follow regardless of religion is hypocrisy. Imagine being in an islamic country that tells you "You can be Christian here, but legally can't eat pork here" and you ask them "Why?" "Well because Allah says you can't eat pork" "But I don't believe in Allah" "Tough luck, that's the law here" (Same thing for wearing hijab if you're a foreign, Christian woman). If the state is based on the principle that every religion should be practiced freely in a state as long as it doesn't impede someone else's rights, you can't make laws based on religious belief. Also did you know that almost as many americans identify with no organized form of religion (atheist or agnostic, 21%) as catholics (23%)? Just saying, christianity isn't the end-all-be-all and the only way to make good laws is through philosophy, never religion.

Wait wait wait... biblically sound? Why are you using a scientific explanation to justify a religious belief? Thats not how it works
