This is a good way to end up with mold on the inside of your hairbrush. The part that holds the bristles has open space beneath it and the back of the brush, so the bristles can move. Water can get trapped in there extremely easily, which would cause mold to form.
Like how bath toys will develop that black slime mold? Yeah the exact same thing is happening inside your brush.
With combs it would be fine, since there’s no place for water to get trapped.
If you want to wash your brushes, use rubbing alcohol. It evaporates and won’t leave mold.
