I honestly love the idea for DLC and Remakes to have there own category, but lile you said it really depends on what comes out and how many come out.

I disagree a bit. The winner will prob be FF7 rebirth. It would be a pretty braindead move for journalists to vote for a DLC even if they thought it to be safe to nominate it. Wukong has good highs, bosses, and really bad lows (gameplay between bosses). Metaphor (my personal fav) is great but has clear flaws (graphics, weird feeling that some content was cut, very niche, and some pacing issues). Balatro could take it, but it would be a supprise, its an indie card game after all. Astrobot is probably the 2nd biggest prob, its just not a traditional pick (family-platformer).

That’s the issue even with a plethora of games that could be remake to a modern day appeal. It’s not consistent as making a whole new game.

My question is, keeping the current format, would people rather a DLC be nominated for game of the year, or a remake be nominated? Cause i can see arguments for both for and against those things. Silent Hill 2 remake was awesome, but it is 95% the same game that came out 20+ years ago.

Erd tree is in the same class as blood and wine and should have gone in a different category and not GOTY one since both of the Base game already won .. logically doesn’t make sense
